John Newdigate

John Newdigate grew up in Cape Town and has been working as a professional artist and ceramicist since 1991. Flying Into The Wind is a collection of masterfully painted porcelain works that are a vivid exploration of color and patterns, inspired by its surroundings. Recurring themes in his work include the interplay of light and water; atmospheric views of the man-made and natural landscape at his home in Swellendam at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains; as well as imaginative exuberant plant, bird and animal motifs that are often a harsh commentary on human interactions with the natural world. His work is represented in important South African public collections and private collections around the world.
